7 Smart Ways WWE Can Bring Back Daniel Bryan 1

by Unknown  |  at  13:08

1. Surprise In The Royal Rumble

Five…four…three…two…one…BUZZER! And then Daniel Bryan’s music hits? It would be one of the loudest ovations in WWE history.
By not announcing Bryan for the match it would create a lot of buzz because fans online and those just watching at home would assume that a Bryan return is possible. We’ve seen it happen so many times over the years with big names returning from injury in the Rumble match unannounced. John Cena famously did it in 2008 to win the Rumble and then Edge did it in 2010. At this year’s Royal Rumble there was a surprise unannounced return with Sheamus coming back from shoulder surgery.
If WWE went the surprise route with Bryan it would generate the kind of perfect reaction that you can’t fake. It would feel natural to hear the crowd erupt as soon as his music hit and he marched down to the ring leading the “yes” chants. Just sitting here thinking about it gets me excited as a fan of him as well as the Rumble match.
The negative about doing a Bryan surprise is that they wouldn’t be able to tell fans that one of the most popular guys in the business is coming back that night. However, what WWE should realize is that the “Royal Rumble” name is very strong on its own. Fans are going to watch it because of its history as well as the possibility that exists with Bryan coming back in a massive way as a surprising Rumble entrant.
No matter what he does when he comes back the fans are going to give him a positive reaction. Bryan is arguably the most popular wrestler alive and at this point all we want is to see him back in a WWE ring again.

2. Announced As A Royal Rumble Participant

Star power is what sells the Royal Rumble match. The name of the event is strong as well due to its history going back to 1988, but having big names in the Rumble match gives it that extra special feel. Fans love it because we know it only happens once per year. It’s the night where we count down to from ten to one like a bunch of sheep and spend an hour of our lives hoping for some kind of magical moment. If you’re a wrestling fan, you get it. If you’re not, you probably think we’re crazy and that’s okay too.
If Daniel Bryan is cleared to wrestle before 2014 ends then WWE has to think about whether it’s worthwhile to put him back in the ring in December or if they should wait until the 2015 Royal Rumble. They could do a storyline where they say that doctors won’t clear Bryan earlier in January, but two weeks before the Rumble it can be announced that he’s been cleared. Cue the anticipation.
Bryan would become an immediate favorite in the Rumble match. The expectation is that Roman Reigns is going to win since he’s in the middle of a Superman push where he’s not losing matches or made to look weak that often, at least not in one on one situations. When you think about it, though, there would be no better story than to have Bryan win. There’s no babyface that has more sympathy than him. Based on the fact that he weighs 200 pounds he’s one of the biggest underdogs too.
It would be cool to know that Bryan was in the Rumble. He’s somebody everybody wants to root for and see do well especially after the rough second half of 2014 that he’s had. However, that’s only the second smartest way to bring him back. There’s something else that would be even better.

3. A WWE Title Match Against Brock Lesnar At The Royal Rumble

If Daniel Bryan didn’t get hurt this year then it would have been Brock Lesnar challenging Bryan for the WWE Title at SummerSlam. The result of the match likely would have been similar to Lesnar/Cena because WWE has a goal of making Lesnar their monster heel they can build around for the next eight months.
Assuming Bryan is cleared before the end of the year, it might be a good idea to do Lesnar against Bryan at the Royal Rumble. It would be a match where Bryan would have the sympathy from the crowd as an underdog babyface not only because of his size, but his injury history also. Lesnar would probably win, but if they booked it smart with Bryan coming close to win then it would work. See last year’s Lesnar/CM Punk match at SummerSlam 2013 as an example of how to do it right.
Since Lesnar is currently under WWE contract until WrestleMania 31 in 2015, they will have to do Bryan vs. Lesnar soon if they want to do it. We don’t know if Lesnar is going to stick around after that or if he’s going to be done with WWE.
The only negative about doing a WWE Title Match against Lesnar at the Royal Rumble is that it would take Bryan out of the Rumble match for the second year in a row. He’s a big name whose presence would help the Rumble match, so perhaps there would be some reluctance on WWE’s part regarding Bryan’s involvement that night.

4. First Raw Episode Of 2015

The first Raw of the year is always a big show. The two weeks before it are usually lame because it’s during the Christmas/New Year’s period and nothing big ever happens. In 2015 the first Monday is January 5th and Corpus Christi, Texas is already booked for it. If WWE is smart, that day would be circled on the calendar as a big event. They could hype it up huge and say that Daniel Bryan is coming back to WWE that night. Advertise it for weeks. Make it seem like a big deal.
Four years ago in 2010, WWE made a big deal out of Bret Hart’s return on the first Raw of the year. He was not an active wrestler and it was an absence that was over 12 years long, but it was still done on the first Raw of the year because they know it’s a big show.
Part of the reason it’s considered a big episode every year is because once January hits, WWE fans are conditioned to think about the Royal Rumble at the end of that month. It’s also a show that’s not competing against the NFL because the NFL’s regular season ends in December, so there’s no Monday Night Football game on January 5th, 2015.
Bryan doesn’t have to wrestle on that show. All he has to do is cut a promo saying he’s back to WWE full time and he’s entering his name in the Royal Rumble. If they want to put him in a match that night or the week after then so be it, but all he would have to do is appear on that show. It would be an awesome sight to hear an arena filled with “yes” chants again.

5. As A Surprise Member Of A Survivor Series Team

Let’s say that Bryan’s ready by Survivor Series. There’s a chance that it will happen. Brie Bella saying “three months” for his return could have been something she said in the end of August meaning that he’d be ready by the end of November. Guys can always get back before the estimated date. We’ve seen it happen plenty of times.
There can be a Survivor Series elimination match that sees four Authority members. Let’s say it’s Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, Kane and even Triple H since Survivor Series is seen as a major show. For the babyface side it can be Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, John Cena (or any face) and then a partner of their choice. It could even be announce that they have a fourth guy, but The Authority takes him out on Raw the week before, so going into the match it’s a mystery if they have a fourth guy.
Imagine the ovation from the crowd if the three faces are sitting there waiting to take on this match 3 on 4 when all of a sudden Daniel Bryan’s music hits. The crowd would go wild for it. It would be an incredibly hot match. The great thing about being in a Survivor Series tag is that because it’s a 4 on 4 elimination tag Bryan wouldn’t have to work that much in it. They could protect him. Have him receive the hot tag, hit his offense, get the win for his team and everybody’s happy. From there they can slowly ease him back into action.

6. Interfering In A Match Kane Is In

Kane is the storyline reason why Daniel Bryan is hurt. If WWE tries to push Kane a bit more as a wrestler for the TLC PPV or some place after that then involving Bryan somehow would make a lot of sense.
It could be a story where The Authority is trying to make life difficult for Dean Ambrose or some other babyface like that. Just when it looks like that babyface is going to suffer a serious injury of some kind, that’s when Bryan come back to save that person. The explanation could be that Bryan doesn’t want to see that guy miss seven months of action like him.
Since the Bryan/Kane story is still fresh in the eyes of the fans, it makes sense for Bryan to go after Kane right away. It wouldn’t be a bad thing to involve Bryan in whatever Kane is doing when he’s physically able to do so.

7. Helping His Wife Brie Bella Win The Divas Title

The current Brie Bella storyline is probably going to lead to a Divas Title victory at some point. She’s been built up as the most sympathetic diva in a very long time. It seems like she spends more time crying than she does anything else. That’s why people are getting bored with the feud. It’s really become redundant. Fans have been heard chanting “boring” during Bella Twins segments for a reason.
Since Brie has been trying to play off the support that her husband gets by urging crowds to chant “yes” among other things, it makes sense that once Bryan is healthy he will return to stand by his wife’s side. That doesn’t mean he has to come back as a manager or anything like that. It would be better if they just created a situation where Brie was in trouble and Bryan showed up out of nowhere to help her.
If WWE plays it smart, they can use the crowd’s adulation for Bryan as a way to generate a positive reaction for Brie so that when she does win the Divas Title it will be a huge moment.

#1 The Divas Division

Sure, they’re getting more spotlight than they did some time ago. The arrival of Total Divas has really put them on air, even if it does not amount to much time.
But what makes the WWE divas different from any other women in entertainment is their wrestling skill. At this moment, the industry can’t boast of having them in the majority. Apart from Natalya, AJ and Paige, not many on the main roster come to mind as being technically sound. Sure, Naomi is talented and Alicia Fox is underrated but the major spotlight that this division is getting is through the ridiculous Bellas feud. It hasn’t worked well at all. It’s as if both of them are competing to see who’s the worst actor.
All the while this has been going on, AJ and Paige’s feud has been relegated to the background such that there have been a lot of blink and miss moments.

#2 The Brand extension

In a few years, Smackdown can reach a milestone of 1000 episodes? Will it really? Ever since Edge retired, it hasn’t been the same. And ever since the content of Raw and Smackdown was merged, it hasn’t recovered since.
There have been sparks but whoever gets popular moves to Raw and then Smackdown is left with no one to call its own. The last major development that happened on Smackdown was the angle between AJ Lee and Daniel Bryan and the rest is history.

#3 Too much on the plate

If we actually look at the WWE roster, it isn’t that crowded but it is quite a job to give each and every one of them a unique gimmick and more or less the management or Creative fails at that job. Look at the divas division. While some have been phenomenally successful, many have just been relegated to promoting their products or are not pushed well enough.
A gimmick like Ryback has been repackaged almost three times but someone like an Adam Rose or a Fandango haven’t got that kind of treatment.

#4 Creative has nothing for you

Now here comes the writing. One of the major setbacks that WWE has had is in its writing. If CM Punk was ever to comment on his departure, I bet it will more or less have to do with the kind of writing he had to endure. I mean, they made him compete in a fatal four way to determine the Undertaker’s Wrestlemania opponent. That kind of spoiled the excitement of the question surrounding Taker’s return. That was just plain stupid and Punk says so himself in one of his interviews.
Writinng has been the major factor in the bad handling of superstars like Alberto Del Rio, Sheamus and many others. Look at Sheamus, he is the US Champion, and yet, he’s not significant.

#5 The Commentary

Sure, JBL is funny and a great addition to the commentary team. He is a great heel commentator in the making but he still isn’t there yet.
Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are busy churning out jokes and laughing at those jokes themselves than call the matches taking place in front of them. They do their job just fine when they call the most hyped matches but still tend to get a bit off-track in between. JBL is good but his fellow announcers seem to be contagious as Layfield too, sometimes, joins in on the ‘fun’.
Even Jim Ross called out this ridiculous habit of theirs.

by Unknown  |  at  11:10

1. Shawn Michaels

Following his career at WWE, Shawn Michaels went on to become a born again Christian.  He became a Bible teacher in San Antonio, Texas, and home-schools
his two children with his wife. He is also an avid outdoorsman, who has appeared on numerous TV shows on the Outdoor Channel. In the wake of many people who believe that all WWE superstars go on a downward spiral following their career in professional wrestling, Shawn Michaels effortlessly proves otherwise.

2. Jeff Hardy

Since leaving WWE, Jeff Hardy went on to become an artist (imagine that, a WWE professional wrestler becoming an artist). He constructed statues of tin foil (that stood over thirty feet high). In 2008, his house was burned down to the ground because of bad wiring, and his dog was killed in the ensuring fire. Then in 2012, Hardy was forced to spend ten days in jail, after being convicted of selling drugs and steroids. He also released an album while playing the guitar with his own band named, “Peroxwhy?gen.” All in all, probably no former WWE superstar has done as many notable things after their career as Jeff Hardy.

3. Matt Osborne

Matt Osborne, otherwise known as ‘Doink The Clown’, had an extremely brief time at WWE, working there only from 1992 through 1993. What caused Osborne to be released from the business so soon, was because he suffered from much substance abuse and an addiction to drugs. Nonetheless, his character continued to live on in WWE, despite being there for only one year. Osborne went on to train other wrestlers and finding work in the film business, while working in independent leagues. He also regularly signed autographs for fans at shows that he would often attend.

4. Mark Henry

Many were shocked to see Mark Henry leave the WWE; he was one of the biggest superstars there and won many tournaments. Even people who derided WWE wrestling as being fake, had to give Henry the thumbs up for his impressive martial arts skills. Henry was also very impressive in terms of strength training, being able to squat over nine hundred pounds and he was considered to be one of the strongest people on Earth. After his release from WWE, Henry became a pallbearer at a funeral for Michael Clark Duncan (who was a good friend of his, who he met when he power lifted). Henry hoisted the casket above his shoulders and carried it to the burial site. Though he has since left the spotlight, Henry did join the International Sports Hall of Fame, as acknowledgement of his extreme strength.

5. Trevor Murdoch

Trevor Murdoch fought in the WWE ring for many years, but when he was released, it seemed that Murdoch’s career was over. Although, that proved to be far from true; Murdoch went overseas to Japan, where he fought at the Pro Wrestling NOAH dojo, which is infamous for requiring some of the most brutal training of any wrestling facility on the planet. Murdoch eventually left the NOAH dojo, and today works installing fiber optic cables.

6. Matt Bloom

Matt Bloom never seemed to fit in at WWE. He never won any championships and never seemed to sway over very many fans, either. But after being released from WWE in 2004, Bloom tried his hand at Japanese wrestling, with his wrestling name being, the ‘Giant Bernard,’ where he has found considerable success. He also got married in 2005, and it appears that Bloom’s career may be resurrecting after all.

7. Sean Waltman

Sean Waltman once held many championships in the WWE, before being released from the company in 2002. Unfortunately, it appears that Waltman’s life has been on a downward spiral ever since. Despite joining TNA, Waltman has been reported to suffer from substance abuse and reported as being an alcoholic. He was even suicidal and was found hanging from the neck, being rescued just in time. The last major news that was heard about Waltman was that he was in rehab, attempting to overcome his drug addiction.

8. Road Dogg

Road Dogg had a long career in WWE, spanning from 1994 to 2011. Unfortunately, what got him out of WWE wasn’t old age or injuries, it was because he became addicted to drugs and suffered from substance abuse. He was sent to rehab multiple times by WWE, but finally the company had enough, and decided to fire him. Following his departure from WWE, Road Dogg suffered severe financial problems and was even suicidal at one point. But he has since embarked on a road to redemption: he has been confirmed to be drug free for several months now, and is also working with other former professional wrestlers on television.
