7. Umaga
Eddie Smith Fatu was born in 1973 into the Anoa’i wrestling family (which means he was a cousin to Roman Reigns, The Rock and Yokozuna, as well as a brother to Rikishi). He debuted for WWE in 2002 as Jamal, competing as a tag team alongside his cousin Matt Anoa’i (Rosey). They were known as 3 Minute Warning, and worked as enforcers for Raw GM Eric Bischoff.
Eddie was released from his contract in 2003 following a bar fight, competing for a spell in Japan before returning in 2005 with a Samoan Wildman gimmick known as Umaga. He was booked as a monster heel, and mostly worked as an enforcer of the McMahons, competing in the WWE Title picture and even represented Vince McMahon at Wrestlemania 23 in the “Battle Of The Billionaires”
Umaga was released from WWE in 2009 for violating the Wellness Policy and refusing to go to rehab. He died of two consecutive heart attacks in December of that same year. It’s believed that his death was caused by acute toxicity due to the combined effects of several drugs in his system, including Diazepam.
