10 Wrestler Deaths That Were Sick Internet Hoaxes 5

5. Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio, whatever his current status with the company, is the biggest Latino star in WWE history and remained a huge box office draw throughout his career.
At the tail end of 2012, a scam began to swirl around Facebook, suggesting that Mysterio had been killed as part of a wrestling stunt. Just like with Mark Henry, it was Big Show who was allegedly responsible for the death of his fellow competitor. Mysterio’s alleged death was blamed on a “tombstone stunt”, which is of course not a move that Big Show has ever performed.
“ReY Mysterio of WWE was dead on arrival on the hospital, suffering from 6 broken ribs after perfecting tombstone stunt with co-star The BIG SHOW. Local Police are now investigating and looking for evidences. THE Big SHOW is now facing murder charges. Watch the practice video from WWE and how The BIG SHOW failed to execute the stunt. (for 18yrs & above)”
Needless to say, clicking on the supposed video would send people to a fake version of the WWE website, which would ask visitors to complete a survey in order to access the content. Of course, the content never existed at all and the survey was simply a way to allow malware onto computers and subject victims to a barrage of spam.
Mysterio’s career with WWE may be dead, but the man certainly isn’t.
