10 Wrestlers You Never Knew Were Dead 2

2. Kanyon

Kanyon began his wrestling career as a jobber in WWF and WCW. He first broke through with the crowd in WCW wearing a mask as Mortis, a sort of combined ripoff of The Undertaker and Mortal Kombat’s Scorpion. He competed against the likes of Glacier (Sub Zero ripoff…. Mortal Kombat was popular, ok??) and Raven’s Flock before dropping the mask and competing as Kanyon, adopting the nickname “The Innovator Of Offense”. Later on, he would team with Bam Bam Bigelow and Diamond Dallas Page as the Jersey Triad before turning on them and feuding with Page specifically, leading to the “Positively Kanyon” gimmick. Between that, the Chris “Champagne” Kanyon phase and taking part in the first ever Judy Bagwell On A Pole match, he was a busy boy with some ridiculous storylines.
When WCW was bought out and the Invasion storyline began, Kanyon adopted the moniker of “The Alliance MVP”, despite not actually accomplishing much. Following the conclusion of that storyline, he spent the majority of his WWE tenure off with injury and didn’t really make it back onto TV, though he did dress as Boy George and sang to The Undertaker (I’m not making that up) He retired from wrestling in 2004, came back and wrestled on the independent scene for a while before retiring for good in 2006, when he came out and revealed himself as gay. In 2010, he was suffering from bipolar disorder and threatened suicide regularly, and on April 2nd he was found dead in his apartment alongside an empty bottle of antidepressants and a note for his family.
