4. The Undertaker
The Undertaker has not been seen on WWE programming since his undefeated WrestleMania streak was broken by Brock Lesnar in April. Naturally, this disappearance provided an opportunity for internet trolls to fill the news gap with intense speculation about the death of a legend.
Only a week after the genuine passing of WWE legend Ultimate Warrior, spoof news site Empire Sports ran a story claiming that Undertaker (real name Mark Calaway) had been found dead at his home in Texas. They suggested that the Phenom’s demise had been a result of complications following the concussion he legitimately sustained in his WrestleMania bout with Lesnar.
Unlike many of the death hoaxes on this list, there was no real reason for the deception, other than the amusement of the person writing the story. So soon after a real-life tragedy, it was certainly in bad taste and is no way to treat a man who is a true legend of the wrestling business.
