3. The Rock

The Rock is the WWE superstar who has crafted the most successful career outside of the ring. He is an established Hollywood movie star, credited with reinvigorating the Fast & Furious franchise as well as leading Brett Ratner’s recent actioner Hercules. It is his film career that yielded the rumours of his death, which were picked up by a number of mainstream news outlets.
Earlier this year, a report on openly fake website Global Associated News sent social media users into a panic, believing that the star – now known as Dwayne Johnson – had died on the set of Fast & Furious 7. The bogus story claimed that Johnson had been filming a stunt for the film when he plunged more than 60 feet on the Kauri Cliffs in New Zealand.
Clicking the link for pictures of the incident led to all sorts of nasty stuff being installed on your computer. The Rock was, of course, fine. He would probably laugh in the face of those cliffs.
