10 Things You Need To Know About WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee 6

6. She Was The First Woman To Hold Both The Queen Of FCW And Women’s Championships In Developmental

Florida Championship Wrestling, the one-time developmental brand for WWE, had a unique way of booking its Divas, at least early in its existence. Rather than having them compete for a championship, the women competed for a crown and the status of “Queen of FCW.” Sure, WWE had its King of the Ring tournament every so often but to regularly book Divas matches and feuds around a crown seemed a bit ludicrous. Still, it helped elevate several young women and AJ was no different. In February 2010, she defeated Serena of Straight Edge Society fame to win the crown. It was the first major victory for the Indy standout in WWE and one that would instantly establish her as one of the top young female stars in FCW.
When the brand finally did institute the FCW Divas Championship, AJ set her sights on winning the coveted title. It was far from easy. Future main roster Divas such as Naomi, Aksana, Tamina and established star Rosa Mendes were all vying for the taste of championship glory, providing AJ with numerous roadblocks to overcome if she hoped to hoist the title in the air. She did, though, defeating the future Funkadactyl Naomi in December 2010. The win helped AJ make history. On that night, she became the first FCW Diva to hold both the crown and the championship. It was a huge bragging right that further cemented her status as the Diva to watch in developmental.
