WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Aug 31) 1

1. Super Cena Runs The World!

WWE seems to get terrified if they have John Cena look weak for more than one match. People call him Super Cena because he’s pushed as unstoppable, as the beloved comic book character, but at least in the comics Superman died once. He didn’t just come back the next issue stronger than ever. At SummerSlam, Lesnar was Cena’s Doomsday. He killed him, and instead of WWE giving us a storyline path back to Cena being his old self, they skipped the next 10 issues and just went ahead and did it the next week.
On Raw, fans were eagerly awaiting Cena’s promo, because they’d never seen him lose like that before. Actually no champion had been brutalized like that before. The panel of Hogan, Michaels and Flair openly questioned whether Cena was going to hang up the jorts. Instead of really delving into his epic loss, Cena just vowed to get Lesnar back at Night of Champions. It was disappointing that WWE took such a bold step at SummerSlam and then didn’t bother to follow up on it.
On Raw, Cena took out all of his frustrations on Bray Wyatt, and beat him as if he was Heath Slater with both arms tied behind his back and blindfolded, and missing one leg. Then he beat up Rowan and Harper for good measure. Might as well take Wyatt off the air for a few months to recover from this one, as his character has been so badly damaged. Also, how weak does that make Chris Jericho look if he returned to face Wyatt and couldn’t beat him, and Cena could do it with such ease?
WWE needs to do something different with Cena. Hulk Hogan had to learn the same lesson after so many years on top. His character was growing stale, and the only way he could remain relevant was to join the NWO. I’m not saying Cena needs to turn heel, but he needs a new hook, and to show some human emotions. Counting Raw, SmackDown and pay-per-view matches, we’ve seen Cena compete over 600 times. Would it really have killed WWE to have him seem vulnerable for just two of them? Where’s Doomsday when you need him?
Time to kick out!
