5. Hogan’s Desperation
Hulk Hogan had a recent radio interview with The Roz and Mocha Show, and he had this to say in regards to why he never locked horns with Steve Austin:“When I came back with the NWO in ‘05 I was ready to go, and it didn’t happen. I know he had some health issues and stuff like that, but what’s the problem now brother?
Okay, first of all Hogan, it was 2002 when the NWO returned, not 2005! And what’s the problem now? Well, despite the fact that you’re 61-years-old, with a horrible back, who can’t safely hit his own finisher, and that Steve Austin is 49, has neck problems, and hasn’t had a full-fledged match in over 11 years…well, besides that I see nothing wrong with it.
Hogan has been lobbying for another match for months, but it’s starting to reek of desperation. He was calling out Brock recently, and now wants Austin. Yes, it would be kind of nice for him to have a true “final match” in WWE so he could go out like his panel-mates Shawn Michaels and Flair (well, before Flair kept going in TNA), but now that he’s in his 60s it’s probably just not a good idea. Maybe a tag match with Cena, where he could have limited involvement and be protected, but anything more than that could be dangerous. It’s too bad he can’t be satisfied with making six figures a year to tell people to buy the network. It beats having to do Radio Shack commercials you would think.
